Notary Public services for legalising medical prescriptions for overseas travel
Do you need medical prescriptions notarised?
Before proceeding, you should check with your doctor and online whether the medication you are carrying with you overseas is legal to consume in the countries that you will go to. In addition, you should also check with the local consulate or embassy of the country you will be travelling to whether or not the particular medication you are carrying requires a prescription in that country and whether your prescription needs to be notarised for use in that country. Failure to conduct due diligence prior to your departure from Melbourne may result in severe penalties in the host country. You can obtain helpful information from DFAT’s Smart Traveller Website here
It is worth checking whether a letter from your doctor may suffice in establishing your legal entitlement to carry prescription medication outside Australia.
Once you have established your prescription requires notarisation and you have confirmed whether your medical prescription needs a notarial certificate, please call our office on 03 9602 3988 for a quote. Alternatively, please send us an email at chuatan@tpg.com.au.
Notarising Medical Documents in Melbourne
Our notary public in Melbourne will contact your Doctor’s Surgery to obtain confirmation that the medical document is genuine and a true copy of the original issued by your doctor, e.g. medical report, medical result, medical prescription etc. This will require you to cc our office email address in your email sent to your medical practitioner requesting confirmation. We may also need to call the medical practice so please ensure they are notified that you have sought a notary public to notarise your medical documents prior to contacting our notary public.
