Are you looking to get married outside of Australia and need a single status certificate?
If you are looking to get married outside of Australia, such as for when you have family in another country and want to register your marriage in that country, you may need to apply for a single status certificate from Australia.
Each State Government would have their own marriage registry where you can apply for a single status certificate. For example, you can visit the link below to obtain a single status certificate in Victoria.
What should you do with the single status certificate?
You should ask the marriage registry overseas about their requirements for presenting the single status certificate. For example, the single status certificate may need to be included as part of an affidavit or a statutory declaration as an attached exhibit.
Our notary public will also need to verify the authenticity of the single status certificate. To save costs here, it is recommended that you engage our experienced Melbourne Notary Public team to apply for the certificate so that you do not need to spend fees on us verifying the certificate for you.
What should you bring to the appointment with the notary public?
Please bring 100 points of ID, which is usually a passport and driver’s license. We will need to verify your identity prior to certifying the single status certificate document.
Please contact our office if you have any questions.
